Hey guys, i know there aren't any Flatlanders signed up on here as far as i am aware? However i have been spreading the news to as many Flatlanders as i know & i am hoping we will see some more Flatlanders signing up! I have created this Thread to discuss everything Flatland! We have a Photo/Video section so obviously things like that can be posted in there. However this thread will basically be a place to discuss whats going on in the world of Flatland. Contests/Jams, New Products & Companies, Hooking Up for a sesh, everything & anything Flatland!!
Stay Cool Guys & i hope to see some posts in here in the not to distant future!

Flatlanders around the world, rejoice! Wethepeople are back in the Flatland Game! Here we have a picture of the Utopia Frame from the EuroBike convention, You cannot see a great deal of detail in this photo but you can clearly see the 14mm Drop Outs with Integrated Tensioners, an option i think should be offered on EVERY Frame not just Flatland Frames! Next up, we have the Wethepeople Utopia Handle Bar.. Pretty cool looking with the bent Cross Bar & they look very wide, but with plenty of room to cut down! And Finally from Wethepeople, the Utopia Flatland Fork! It looks to have Minimal Offset & offer a Removable (Or possibly welded?) or No Brake Mount at all options, Chrome or Flat Black, which leads me to believe we may well see the Bars & possibly the Frame offered in Chrome also! Roll on Interbike! I'm sure they will have more details on the specifications there, & Hopefully we will see more from their sister Company Eclat about the Blind Freecoaster!

Believe it or not, a few years back every single Flatland Frame on the market had 74 or 74.5 Degree Head Tube Angles, some even had less! Then when the whole "Lets be like Street Riders" thing kicked in! I know there were a couple of Frames with 76/76.5 Degree Head Tube Angles. I have always ridden 74/74.5 Degree Head Tube Angles, especially with Zero Offset Forks it just doesn't feel right with the Steeper Head Tube Angles! 74.5 is pretty much spot on!

One thing that totally slipped my mind & is pretty much the most important reason i wont run a Flatland Frame with a HTA over 74.5 Degrees is... BALANCE! I find the balance point on 75+ to be way to squirmy, i know this might seem a little mad as both my Streetland Frames have 75.5 Degree HTA but, because i will only use Zero Offset Forks, the Bike just does not feel balanced correctly under me when riding! One thing i really like about the slacker HTA is especially with the Zero Offset Fork you feel like you have to push into Hang 5s & Whiplash Tricks, which for me makes me feel waaay more in control of my Bike. LOVE IT!

This is more Streetland than Flatland, Makushev Ivan kinda rides a bit of Street & Flatland, this is truly INSANE! I put it in the Photo/Video section, but i think it deserves to be in here too!

My Good Friend Danny owner of Quest has been designing these Bars for a while! .065" Straight Gauge Tubing, 7/8" O.D Cross Bar all add up to a SUPER stiff Handle Bar with great Geometry! I know i am biased, but these Bars ARE The Best Bars on the market right now! If you're a Flatlander BUY THESE.. You can get them at... www.QuestBMX.com (Link in my sig actually!) or www.FlatlandFuel.com

Not Really TBH.. You can ride Flatland on most Bikes but if you want a really Flatland Specific Bike you will need.. Zero or Super Minimal Offset Fork (13-16mm) Shorter Reach Stem (26-36mm) Zero or Minimal Sweep Bars (0-6 Degrees) Higher Seat Post (220mm+) Shorter Cranks (165mm MAX) Smaller Gearing (20-23/9) Narrower Tyres (2" MAX) Freecoaster Rear Hub Longer Pegs are a reccomended The Frame really depends on your height, unless you are well into the 6 foot + Margin you really don't want a Top Tube longer than 20" & most "New School" Flatlanders will not ride Chain Stays longer than 13" Some of the older guys & obviously the taller guys wont have a problem with 13"+ Chain Stays because in the 80s & 90s a Frame with 12" Chain Stays was insane! & obviously the Taller Guys, especially the ones with larger feet will deffo not want 12" Chain Stays, BUT... I will tell you now unless you're about 5'4 you will HATE 12" Chain Stays! Honestly i personally wont go below 12.5" My Frame i have now is 12.4" Slammed Chain Stays but it has Integrated Chain Tensioners so it will NEVER be slammed haha. If you honestly want to get yourself a beginners Flatland Bike check this one out..... www.albes.com/dk-opsis-2013-stock-flatland-bike.aspx
